Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski was set to direct the live action BioShock motion picture, but stepped down from the project. The reasons for his departure from the project were speculative, but it may be because Verbinski's transmedia production company, Blind Wink, has announced that it would be working on games for Kinect, in a partnership with Microsoft. According to the press release, the deal will include, but is not limited to, video games, and their first title will be an Xbox Live Arcade game using the Kinect sensor. The title is due to be released in late 2012. Not much else is known about the project or what the future will bring for the Blind Wink/Microsoft partnership, but Verbinski stated, "Audiences consume content very differently today. As an idea house, we at Blind Wink are looking forward to our partnership with Microsoft. Their various platforms give us access to new methods of distribution, allowing us to extend into emerging markets and connect more directly with the audience." Verbinski is best known for the initial Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, as well as The Ring and The Mexican. |
