Activision has announced that The Amazing Spider-Man, a tie-in to the blockbuster film being released next Summer, will take place in the events after the events of the film and will bring the web-slinger back to Manhattan. The game’s story is being written by Seamus Kevin Fahey, who is best known for his work on the Battlestar Galactica reboot.
The game is being developed by Quebec-based Beenox, which worked on the last two Spider-Man titles Shattered Dimensions and The Edge of Time, and will feature a return to the open world navigation and combat of the first few Activision-produced Spider-Man titles. According to the developer, the game will feature a new “Web Rush” mechanic, which allows players to ”pull off a vast array of moves.”
Activision promises to show off just what that mechanic entails as a world premiere trailer will air during the Spike TV Videogame Awards this coming Saturday.
