Capcom has announced that PlayStation Network’s Street Fighter 3 Third Strike won’t be carrying any DRM, which means offline play is a-okay.
This move was deemed ”very important for future tournament use,” said Christian Svensson. The PSN brawler has numerous rule sets for tournaments.
”The game does not make use of Sony’s network DRM,” confirmed Capcom’s Svensson. ”It is playable offline. We deemed that very important for future tournament use.” Capcom used a controversial DRM with PSN’s Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, banning offline.
Street Fighter 3 Third Strike launches with a number of special rule sets that tournament organisers can choose from, like banning certain characters, setting up blind selects and tweaking rounds. All rule sets are in the eight man, single elimination format.
Street Fighter III: Third Strike releases on Xbox 360 and PS3 August 24th.
