Morheim attributed the decline to players completing Cataclysm consumption at a high rate, saying, “The more experienced (our players) are, they’ve become much faster at consuming content. We need to be faster in delivering expansions to players. We’re looking at ways to speed up the development process.”
The unsaid insistence is that it isn't a decline of interest in WoW for other MMOs such as the recently released Rift or free-to-play MMOs like Lord of the Rings Online. Blizzard and their partners, Netease, are also looking to launch the new expansion pack in China this year.
Morheime did cover the recent addition of premium mobile services for World of Warcraft, in the mobile auction house and mobile guild chat. He also mentioned that a new premium mount would be offered soon as well; the previous $24.99 mount sold extremely well.
