Sony could face a fine of up to half a million pounds in the UK if they’re found to be negligent. Reports have surfaced that Sony knew of quite a few holes in their security but were either slow to respond or dismissed the potential exploits as ‘harmless’.
”Sony didn’t want to be hacked or have people’s data stolen, but clearly as more and more companies move their products online and more and more people have to give their personal details in order to access those products, data protection and security is going to have to be one of their number one priorities,” said Minister Ed Vaizey.
The PlayStation Network continues to be down but some regions will be getting at least partial service return as Sony begins testing their new software security measures.
