Microsoft registers Microsoft-Sony domains [Update]

NeoGAF user V_Ben has noticed that Microsoft has registered two curious domains:

http://whois.domaintools.com/sony-microsoft.com

http://whois.domaintools.com/microsoft-sony.com

While it’s extremely unlikely that there will be an PlayStation 360 or an XboxStation, it’s interesting nonetheless. Speculation runs from Windows 7 Phone apps to simple protection from troll cybersquatters or to just a Windows deal with Viao laptops.

Kotaku, on the other hand, thinks that it makes perfect sense for Microsoft and Sony to collaborate on a new console.

Microsoft’s Frank X. Shaw tweeted: ”re: sony/ms domain names: Sony = great MS partner. No scoop here, this was just a defensive domain hold. Let’s move on to weekend, kay?”
