Fresh off its Sesame Street title Once Upon a Monster, Tim Schafer's Double Fine Studios has announced another family friendly Kinect title, Happy Action Theater, which is a collection of 18 mini-games that the developer has "designed to activate gross motor skills, inspire imagination and entertain players of all ages."
The colorful game features Space Invaders-type shooters, destroying virtual cities like a rampaging monster, playing underwater, triapsing around in lava and trying to catch doves.
Happy Action Theater is a part of a series of Microsoft's Kinect for Kids program. Another title, codenamed Rush, is a collaboration with Pixar, in which children can scan themselves into Pixar films The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up, Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 and get involved with various challenges. The game is due in Spring 2012.
Other upcoming projects include Kinect Sesame Street TV and Kinect Nat Geo TV, which are interactive TV experiences, and an interactive storybook called Project Columbia.
