How fares Microsoft’s new tablet-style Windows 8? The 64-bit edition has soared past all MacOS versions and occupies between Windows Vista 64 and 32-bit at 4.25%.
It’s a royal rumbling stats-off! The 32-bit Windows 8 holds just 0.44%, which is marginally behind Windows XP 64-bit. Both Windows 8 versions are growing, while others shrink.
Interestingly the only other gains have been for Windows Vista 64-bit and MacOS 10.7.5. 64-bit at 0.03% each. It’s not surprising that Windows & continues to lead the pack for both versions, especially as PC gamers are said to be a little wary of the new Windows 8 because of questionable decision designs by Microsoft, like no Start Menu - b*stards!
Steam is in closed beta testing for a Linux-based client which includes Team Fortress 2 and 24 other titles from third-parties. Valve’s Gabe Newell criticised the new Windows OS for ‘closing’ the platform, and argued that Linux now represented more of what the Windows platform used to be like for software developers.
