The company, which is based in Salt Lake City, recently laid off eight employees, bringing the number of personnel left at the studio to 26. It’s unknown if these employees will be moving on with Jaffe to work along side him in the casual market.
Once PlayStation 3 exclusive Twisted Metal is released, Eat Sleep Play will also be moving away from triple-A titles to iPhone and iPad games.
“It’s a platform that is in our pockets almost 24/7. It’s kind of the size and types of games we’re playing,” said Eat Sleep Play’s co-founder, Scott Campbell. “You can certainly reach a lot more people. That’s pretty exciting for us.”
”Hopefully it’s our brand of mechanics-driven gaming brought to these devices,” he added when questioned about what games the firm plans to develop for these platforms.
When questioned about Jaffe’s departure, Campbell commented: ”He’s excited to go into the casual space as well. He’s got some projects that he’s excited about. So we’re kind of going down two separate paths.”
Although Jaffe has recently responded to the report on Twitter, claiming; ”The rumors of me making casual games post TM - as many of you define them - are highly exaggerated.”
Twisted Metal will be released exclusively for PlayStation 3 on 14th February in the US, with a European version delayed until 7th March.
