RAD Soldiers will be coming soon to the iPhone and iPad as a free to play title supported by microtransactions.
Wedgewood cited Final Fantasy Tactics, Words with Friends, League of Legends, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and chess as the game’s inspirations.
The first footage of the game was briefly shown during the presentation, revealing a cartoony art-style, a London setting and turn-based strategy game play.
It will feature ‘non-exploitative’ microtransactions, meaning that items for sale can also be earned with in-game currency instead of solely through spending real-world money.
Wedgewood stated that the game is currently in certification with Apple, implying that it will be released in the coming weeks.
The rest of the presentation focused on the history of Splash Damage and its business strategies, with Wedgewood mentioning that a PC browser game and ‘AAA’ console title is also in the works.
