Notable industry analyst, Wedbush-Morgan’s Michael Pachter, has stated in an interview with Forbes Magazine that there is ”zero chance” that the PlayStation 4 would be appearing at E3 2012. He is slightly more optimistic regarding the Xbox 720 making an appearance, giving it a 20% chance.
The rumor of the PlayStation 4 making its debut at E3 2012 stemmed from a tip from a reportedly ”exemplary” and ”ultra high level” source, according to MCV. MCV writer Ben Parfitt claimed on Twitter, ”Obviously we can’t reveal our sources. But you have my personal word on this - the source is exemplary, 100% concrete, ultra high level. Really, really wish I could name him/her/them/it but obviously cannot.”
Pachter adamantly claims that not only is neither console appearing at E3 2012, but neither will be actually released by 2013, insisting, “Neither console is launching in 2013, so there’s no reason to tease them in 2012.”
E3 2012 will be running from the 5th June through to the 7th.
