Treyarch may be in hot water over its Call of Duty: Black Ops II setting. According to court documents received by Game Informer, Infinity Ward has the exclusive rights to any ”post-Nam” setting in the Call of Duty world.
The relationship between Infinity Ward and Treyarch has been stretched for a long time, but Activision could find itself on the end of another court battle with the 2025 setting of Black Ops II. The mega-publisher is already waiting for the West and Zampella court case to take place.
Whatever the outcome, its obvious Treyarch has been frustrated with its lack of location choice in the original Black Ops.
When asked to comment on the situation, the developer declined to comment.
