This decision will ”benefit both parents and industry” as it provides a ”stronger, simpler age-rating system.” Currently the BBFC still holds sway over ratings for video games in the UK.
The news came from Creative Industries Minister Ed Vaizey, meaning that those BBFC logos will be made a thing of the past as PEGI ratings will take their place but be enforced.
“The new system will benefit both parents and industry by creating a stronger, simpler age-rating system,” said the UK minister. “It will give parents greater confidence that their children can only get suitable games while we are creating a simpler system for industry having their games age-rated.”
