BioWare has announced that the first major game update for Star Wars: The Old Republic will be arriving next week on the 17th January, as the 1.1 update moves from the test servers to the main game. The update is dubbed ”Rise of the Rakghouls”, as a new flashpoint ”Kaon Under Siege” focuses on an invasion of the mutated beasts.
”Kaon Under Siege” focuses on the eponymous planet located in the Tion Hegemony. The world is a strategically important sector of the galaxy that has remained neutral, as groups of up to four Republic or Imperial players must race to Kaon to deal with the outbreak of the mutated Rakghouls, thereby securing the allegiance of the Tion Hegemony for their respective sides. The Flashpoint is a high level raid requiring characters of level 50 and can only be played in Normal and Heroic modes.
The other major mission is the Operation ”Karagga’s Palace”, which is an extension of the original mission. In this Operation, teams of 8 or 16 players will face off against Karagga and the Hutt Cartel after the Hutts abandon their famous neutrality and breach agreements with both the Republic and Empire. This Operation will feature Normal, Heroic and Nightmare difficulty modes.
The 1.1 update also includes a host of fixes, tweaks and improvements, all of which can be checked out here.
