Beamdog head Trent Oster has indicated during exchanges on Twitter that if Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition are successful, he may turn his eyes towards the game’s cousin, Icewind Dale.
When a gamer tweeted to Oster, ”I’m about to buy two #bgee if it helps IWD have a chance to be remade,” Oster replied ”The topic of Icewind Dale has come up a number of times. We are interested, but first we need (Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition) to succeed.”
Perhaps inevitably, the subject of the Ultima RPG series was brought up. When asked if the team could do a more advanced version of the Ultima games, Oster revealed, ”We talked to EA about Ultima when we were exploring ideas. They told us no thanks.”
Baldur’s Gate and its sequel are due to be released this Summer. Oster has also expressed a desire to work on a full retail Baldur’s Gate 3 as well.
