The fate of the Gamestation brand has finally be revealed and it’s for the chop as all assets will be rebranded under GAME. The subsidiary dual-brand strategy is to be no more, reveal bosses.
Since 2007 GAME has kept Gamestation operating separately since they bought it from Blockbuster. CEO Martyn Gibbs say that GAME continues to research what gamers want from them.
Gamestation was founded in 1993 in York, and eventually spread to 63 stores by 2003. It was snapped up by Blockbuster who expanded to around 240 stores.
The news came from the GAME Conference held today. The big wigs at the specialist retailer chain wants to know what gamers expect from such a store in today’s far more digital world.
