Official Xbox Magazine's April 2012 cover will feature Medal of Honor: Warfighter, and some of the features of the new shooter have been revealed, including the fact that the game will be using DICE's Frostbite 2.0 engine. Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be focusing on the real-life Tier 1 Operators, a group of elite soldiers.
The Frostbite 2.0 engine will allow for such effects as swaying chandeliers, wood splintering from damage, and papers flying from desks due to gunfire. The previous Medal of Honor had used a dual-engine setup, which was unable to do the sorts of physics and graphic fidelity that the Frostbite 2.0 engine is capable of.
What will be returning from the 2010 Medal of Honor are the protagonists and principal characters, including Preacher, Voodoo, and Mother. Once again, the plot will be based on real-life events and co-written by the soldiers who experienced them.
As for multiplayer, it's being developed in-house at Danger Close, not DICE, and players will be taking on the roles of multinational Tier 1 Operators, including the SAS (British), SASR (Australian), KSK (German), and Grom (Polish).
Finally, a new one-shot kill "hardcore" mode will also be available to players who want a real challenge, as well as co-op support.
Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. No release date has been set.
