Square Enix will be releasing Sleeping Dogs in Japan but it has been cut, with a few alterations made. It’s rated CERO Z in the country, meaning it must be asked for at the counter.
Alternate camera angles are used in certain sexually themed moments, there is a penalty for harming civilians in certain missions, and an organs exposed scene was also tinkered with.
No that last one wasn’t a sexual reference, but a scene were someone’s organs are literally said to be exposed. Ouch. A guy/gal starting a race has also been made invulnerable to harm.
Aside from those adjustments the rest of the game is the same as the western version. The Japanese do get to call it ‘Sleeping Dogs Hong Kong Secret Police’ when it goes on sale. English and even Cantonese voiceovers remain too. Sleeping Dogs arrives September 27th in Japan after its US and EU August 14th debut on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
