More 2012 sales data has started to trickle in as the Entertainment Retailers Association has announced that digital sales in the UK region rose to over £1.033 billion in 2012, with videogames comprising £552 million of the total.
£552 million is an increase of 7.7% over 2011’s £512.9 million in digital videogame sales.
However, retail game sales are down 26.4%, and overall videogame sales, digital and physical combined, are down 17.4%. It’s noteworthy that overall digital entertainment sales are down, with total digital sales down 12%.
Some think that the Olympics had a negative effect on British digital sales, and 2013 should see a rise in digital sales, as well as entertainment sales overall.
