The developer calls the game “a unique blend of a turn-based tactical combat game and a digital Collectible Card Game.” The game uses a collectible card game mechanic in which players can earn digital booster packs of unit cards, called Army Packs. Using these cards, players build their fantasy armies to wage war against others in either 1v1 skirmishes or big team battles.
Gamers must also build and conquer castles, because not only do they produce Steel as a resource, but they also serve as deployment points.
The game also features two factions, the Isenhal Empire Faction and the Orc Marauders Faction. ”Each faction has a unique play-style and a different set of units to collect and master,” notes the developer. Rebel also promises more factions, stating, ”As we continue to update and expand the game after launch, we hope to be able to create more factions to add to the game, such as the sinister undead Shadow Legion faction and the Elvish Silver Circle faction.”
