A very arcade twin-stick shooter affair is the newly revealed Halo: Spartan Assault, which is being released by Microsoft Game Studios as a Windows 8 exclusive, meaning it will support mobile devices.
This is not your typical FPS Halo, so PC gamers still aren't necessarily getting much Halo love. That it's Windows 8 exclusive will definitely keep its audience small time.
It's a pity that Microsoft isn't embracing the PC as they promised they would all those moons ago. This barely ranks as a PC title given that it’s clearly targeting mobile first.
The last Halo release for PC was Halo 2 which was questionably 'exclusive' to Windows Vista after passionate fans 'patched' the game to work with Windows XP. This is another disappointing display from Microsoft if kept artificially 'locked' to the Windows 8 platform. As for the game itself, it could prove an interesting spin-off... see the trailer below.
