"create the third game."
The Chronicles of Riddick is that 'third game'. The initial game was made because they had "so much more story" to tell, but couldn't spend tens of millions to flesh it out.
The videogame offered a way to spread the word and myths of the Riddick universe without bloating film budgets by "using a less costly medium" - tell that to .
"For all the game lovers out there, we're reassembling the team that made Escape From Butcher Bay. So we got our guys in Sweden that were part of Starbreeze and we're pulling them back together to make the next Riddick game that we're really excited about," Vin Diesel told way back in July. Somehow the world missed it.
"There's this huge concept which is more of a MMO game that would be centered around people being able to play mercs and it's basically the merc trade. There's a very cool game concept behind that." Fans of the original games are unlikely to be pleased so much at the mention of the letters 'MMO'. Something more in the vein of Escape from Butcher Bay would be most welcome, which blended stealth, hunting and combat.
