According to managing director Adam Badowski, ”It will be a story-based RPG experience with amazing single-player playthroughs, but we’re going to add multiplayer features,” and added, “We’re thinking about something (for The Witcher 3.)”
Badowski went on to describe the environment. ”The first and most important environment for Cyberpunk is the city, obviously,” he noted, adhering to the original pen-and-paper RPG. ”But not only the city: you can expect some more environments in the Cyberpunk game. We want to start in the Night City, which is cool. And yes it will be an open world game as well,” he finished.
Cyberpunk 2077 will also allow players to create their own character; in The Witcher, they were stuck with playing Geralt. Badowski conformed, ”We’ll have different situation in Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk will have different character classes.” This means players will be able to have their own moral code, rather than have Geralt’s enforced on them.
Cyberpunk 2077 is due to be released on PC in 2015, and is based on famed RPG guru Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk 2020 pen-and-paper roleplaying game.
