Double Fine has announced on Indie Fund that the studio has recouped their $400K investment on their space station sim Spacebase DF-9 in two short weeks via Steam Early Access.
According to Tim Schafer’s studio, ”Spacebase DF-9 went into open alpha last month and recouped the entire $400k investment two weeks from that date. 85% of the revenue came in via Steam Early Access, and the other 15% via direct sales by Double Fine.”
Spacebase DF-9 puts the player in the role of a space station owner, trying to attract a population of humans and aliens while mining asteroids, discovering derelicts, and dealing with disasters like meteors and explosive decompression.
Gamers interested in joining the alpha can preorder the game on Steam or directly from Double Fine.
