According to the Twitter profile of Sony Entertainment Online president John Smedley, the building and crafting tool EverQuest Next Landmark might enter an alpha phase in late January 2014.
Smedley posted the following tweet today:
It's looking like our Alpha for EQNL is going to start sometime in the last half of January. Very excited.!

An accompanying tool for the upcoming MMO Everquest Next, Landmark allows players to create their own buildings, items and object, trading them across a community marketplace for in-game currency. Here's the official trailer to talk you through the concept.
Sounds interesting, and has the potential to create an active player economy. Everquest Next is due in 2014, though no official date has yet been announced.
