Sony prez Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed that the PlayStation 3 DualShock 3 controller will not be compatible with the PlayStation 4.
Yoshia stated, "No, (the PS4) doesn't support DualShock 3, but it does support PS Move."
This is probably partly due to the DualShock 4's touch screen, but it does mean gamers will have to shell out more cash to get extra controllers if they want to play with friends on the same machine.
