Nothing puffs up the chest more for empire building than a sinister sounding orchestral score. Composer Howard Mostrom says you "just can't compete with a real group," though synth is fantastic.
Knowing a room full of people gave us a soothing musical accompany as we smash asteroids into planets will really warm the cold hearts of our Commanders.
"Every part of the music that's in there now will be played by the orchestra, and it’ll have everything that live humans can bring to music. You can do a bunch of fantastic stuff with synth, but it only goes so far," said Mostrom, who'll be composing at Bastyr University in San Diego, California. "You just can't compete with a real group."
The plan is for the current synthesised tracks to be covered by the orchestra, including the Kickstarter theme, but to also compose all new pieces to delight our ears. "In all, we'll be using one oboe, an english horn, and a full brass section, in addition to forty strings (violins, violas, bass, etc.), a full choir, a flute, a piccolo, a harp, and a mix of traditional and eclectic percussion," reads the latest Kickstarter update.
Uber will be recording footage of the orchestra in action. "We're making awesome progress on the full release in the background, too, and we'll be sharing more details on what's to come in the near future."
