According to the site’s source, the game will be identical on all platforms save the 3DS version, and will ”stick with the recent formula”, with gameplay moving between 3D and 2D environments, with multiple routes in each level, which will have one to three exits.
There won’t be any new characters introduced, with ten to choose from. Sonic will be the only available character from the start, while completing stages will unlock others. As one might expect, every character will have their own ability.
The new game will allegedly be released at the end of the year, which means “next generation consoles” will include the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720.
