EA's Warhammer spin-off Wrath of Heroes will be shut down by Mythic Entertainment on 29th March, 2013.
Wrath of Heroes is a free-to-play battle arena game that is being closed because it isn't making enough money EA said.
"Unfortunately, the project could not meet its financial goals to be sustained," said EA.
James Casey, producer for Wrath of Heroes, has published a blog to give his thoughts on the closure and to thank the players.
“Launched in Beta just over a year ago, the free-to-play battle arena version of Warhammer Online was a grand experiment.” said Casey. “As a producer for this game from the start, I am proud of the hard work and effort that made the game possible and I feel sad that it is not able to carry on.”
“Whether you just tried it out or have played it from the start of Beta, we thank you all for your patronage. I hope you will all join us and celebrate the final moments of WOH. See you online!”
EA are advising players to spend any Gems they have left before it closes, as it will not refund any Gem purchases. Although it isn't all bad news, if you've played Wrath of Heroes between 1st January and 27th February this year, or you have any Gems in your balance, you will be given a promotional code for Mythic's Warhammer MMO Age of Reckoning.
