The PC platform is ”far superior to any console” plus all that ”extra functionality that a computer brings.” Nvidia understand some are put off by ‘complex’ PC speak but they’re working on that.
It’s no longer an exclusive club to be among the powerful PC elite as more and more small form factor machines are cropping up, easily as portable as a console.
”We are proposing small form-factor PCs to be a viable alternative to the next-gen consoles. Enthusiast players want the ultimate games system and that is the PC,” said Matt Wright of Nvidia. ”The PC platform is far superior to any console when it comes to gaming, plus you get all the extra functionality that a computer brings.”
“We want to make PC gaming as simple as possible and we think that it already becoming much more relevant and appealing to casual gamers,” he continued. According to the latest UKIE digital data collected, the PC is the UK’s fastest growing platform as appeal continues to gain momentum where it didn’t before.
“Steam now has more users than Xbox Live. There is a whole new generation who grew up playing on PC with titles like Minecraft or World of Tanks. There’s a huge community who love playing their games on PC.”
Both Xbox One and PlayStation 4’s architecture feature rival AMD’s CPU and GPU chipsets, so this could be regarded as sour grapes by Nvidia, who claim they turned down the next-gen machines in favour of sticking with PC. What is true though is that hardware for PC is already exceeding the next-gen hardware in performance.
So, sour grapes or victory lap?
