Ubisoft revealed The Settlers: Kingdoms of Anteria yesterday, the next title in a strategy series that seems to have been hanging around forever without ever being all that popular.
While the press release and new website shy away from revealing any concrete information, the game's coming to Gamescom this month. Expect more details then.
Here's what Ubisoft are saying so far:
"The Settlers - Kingdoms of Anteria offers a unique combination of persistent city building and real-time action strategy. Players will work to build up, control and optimise their production chains and economy to unlock building upgrades and new sectors, resulting in kingdoms growing larger than ever before. They will also have the opportunity to face-off against fierce enemies and frightening bosses in tactical battles to earn resources and special loot as they level up.Players can choose the champion class and skill set that best suits their play style from the thousands of different combinations possible."
Sounds slightly more RPG-like than previous entries, though Ubisoft promise the same basic building and simple combat that fans will remember. They also promise a co-operative mode for up to three players, in which each player can "focus gameplay on their favourite feature", whether that's construction, trading or fighting.
The Settlers: Kingdoms of Anteria is coming later this year, with a closed beta to precede the full release. We'll keep an eye out at Gamescom for more details.
