Dodge Roll Games, a studio comprised of former Mythic and EA developers, has announced the “gunfight dungeon crawler” Enter the Gungeon. Terrible, terrible puns are the order of the day here.
If you love lovely retro pixel art and arsenals of exciting weaponry, this is definitely the game for you. If you can cope with those puns, that is.
You play as one of several ‘Gungeoneers’ (just accept the fact that gun-based wordplay is going nowhere), searching a deadly, trap-filled dungeon for “the gun that can kill the past”. On the way you’ll loot a bunch of exotic weaponry Borderlands-style, including guns that shoot “rainbows, fish, foam darts and bees”.
“Select a hero and battle your way to the bottom of the Gungeon by surviving a challenging and evolving series of floors filled with the dangerously adorable Gundead and fearsome Gungeon bosses armed to the teeth”, writes the developer. “Gather precious loot, discover hidden secrets, and chat with opportunistic merchants and shopkeepers to purchase powerful items to gain an edge”.
Enter the Gungeon is coming in 2015 to PC, PS4, Mac and Linux.
