You lucky backers of Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity will be getting your grubby hands on the game earlier than you might have expected.
According to the latest developer blog post on the game’s website, which also looks at some of the creatures you’ll battle during your travels, the beta build will be released to Kickstarter backers on August 18.
“In our next big update,” the post reads ”we will discuss the upcoming Backer Beta in more detail as well as what it will entail and how to redeem your copy. We will be releasing our Backer Beta on August 18th.”
Obsidian say that backer updates and posts will be less frequent as the game gets ever closer to release, as the team will be busy finalising, bug-checking and so on. In addition, the documentary on the game’s development promised to backers will no longer be a physical copy, but a extended digital download instead. Obsidian will be replacing the DVD/Blu-ray with another reward.
After so long waiting for this game it’s getting very close, isn’t it? In a great year for RPGs Pillars of Eternity could be the icing on the cake.
