Lots of interesting tidbits coming out from Steam Dev Days, as you might expect. Dave Oshry from Hot Blooded Games, who is currently attending the developer conference, tweeted a quote from Gabe Newell indicating Valve's desire to evolve beyond their Steam Greenlight service.
Said Newell, "Our goal is to make Greenlight go away. Not because it's not useful, but because we're evolving."
There's been some complaints in the past about Greenlight, and the way it removes control from indie developers. Oshry followed up his original tweet by saying, "Gabe talking about how he wants us to take control of content on Steam. Take control of the store & how we promote our games."
With 75 million active users currently confirmed on Steam, Newell's desire to open up the market and give more power to smaller developers can only be good news for them.
