Something’s afoot at Microsoft as something referred to as ‘Arcadia’ is increasing its team size. According to job listings it’s a project looking into setting up a streaming platform possibly for Windows devices.
It’s being built on Microsoft’s Azure cloud, and could stream both games as well as apps. Apparently they considered letting users stream Android apps, but it seems they’re unsure.
The Arcadia job listings are after developers with experience using operating systems not of Microsoft’s making, like iOS and Android. The software giant is unveiling Windows 10 in January at a special event in Seattle, Washington. This Arcadia project is unlikely to feature or get a mention.
The Arcadia name does have significance as it matches Microsoft’s usual M.O. of either naming something after a geographical place, or recently, after something that’s in the Halo universe.
Will Microsoft use the power of a streaming platform to bridge Android and iOS apps to Windows?
