Focus Home Interactive has released ten whole minutes of grimy fantasy murdering in Mordheim: City of the Damned. Take a look at the turn-based strategy in action for the first time.
The game's based on Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy spin-off board game of the same name, and features several bands of unpleasant people kill each other over valuable magical artifacts.
Graphically it's nothing particularly special, not really capturing the grotty charm of the Warhammer setting, but otherwise the game looks interesting. Movement points allow you to either travel a certain distance or perform certain actions like climbing onto a second floor for a better shot, or taking a look around to try and spot traps or enemies.
I particularly like the way that characters who've been knocked about in combat can end up losing arms or legs. That's awesome. The singleplayer is a narrative-led campaign across the city, while skirmish mode lets you battle it out in procedurally generated maps.
The developers are keen to point out that this is early alpha footage. Mordheim hits Steam Early Access later this month.
