A new trailer for developer Streum On’s Warhammer 40,000 shooter Space Hulk: Deathwing has been released, showing the game’s heroic Dark Angels knocking the crap out of a horde of alien genestealers.
The Unreal Engine 4 is doing some stellar work on those bolters and suits of Space Marine power armour.
Deathwing casts you as a Dark Angels Librarian (think awesomely powerful psychic warfare rather than checking out books and shushing people) tasked with clearing out a space hulk, the corpse of a colossal ship lost in space that’s been taken over by the seriously unpleasant genestealer Tyranids. From the video’s blurb:
“Strap on your Terminator armour and equip the emblematic weaponry of the Space Marines to overcome the threats awaiting you in the Space Hulk. As a Librarian, you will also master the destructive powers of the Psykers. Your skills and performance in battle grant you Fervor Points, to spend on 4 skill trees allowing you to improve your abilities, unlock new powers, access powerful relics and devastating new weapons.”
I caught a few minutes of very early, like embryonic gameplay from the 40k title earlier this year. Almost impossible to make any judgement calls about quality at this point, but it was at least clear that the studio behind Deathwing are hardcore Warhammer fans.
Space Hulk: Deathwing is coming to PC in 2015.
