Change is never easy, but the time has come for Strategy Informer to embrace this bold new world, and what a world it is. With the PC’s gamer population higher than it has ever been it’s time we return to our roots, and provide the fresh and exclusive content we’re known for to our strongest community, but we’ve also got some new surprises in store.
The change heading our way is the biggest one for us; we’re retiring our name Strategy Informer.
As we move onto this next stage for our network we felt it was right, and hope you do too, that our coverage has long since expanded beyond the strategy genre, although it will always hold a special place with us. A new name was needed to better show our hunger for all things PC, and so we would like to formally announce the launch of GameWatcher.com.
This isn’t just a lick of new paint but a complete relaunch for us, and you, as we bring online a whole new site built from the ground up, and there are plenty of new goodies too. PC gaming today has grown to new heights and a lot of that has to do with Valve and the Steam platform. So we’re happy to announce that GameWatcher has fully integrated Steam login support making it easier than ever to link together your PC gamer habits.
For those who aren’t part of Steam you needn’t worry, there’s still the more traditional sign-up and login user system. It’s just another way we can now offer our community a better connection to the latest news, editorials and downloads.
A new comments system is also debuting with our cleaner and brighter news feeds. As our breaking news and exclusive articles are important to all of us, we’ve concentrated a lot on making sure each is easier to read with more space dedicated to them. This is why your thoughts are more important than ever, as sharing comments is now simple thanks to Disqus, with its own clean design. It’s easy to use and allows all of us to build our community with little fuss – you may already be using it!
Not everyone can take the time to read our articles, which is why we’re also happy to announce we’ll be bringing much more video content to you, so when spare time is difficult to find there’s a quick alternative with highlights ready right alongside our more feature length write-ups. To help even more is a special smartphone and tablet version of the site for your convenience; it’s condensed and digestible without eating through your data plan.
