Czech indie studio FiolaSoft has released a new trailer for its upcoming sci-fi platformer Blackhole, which shows off the game’s gravity-altering gameplay.
In Blackhole you play as an intrepid astronaut lost in a black hole (unsurprisingly), who finds himself stranded on a strange planet-like organism called ‘The Entity.’
A bit like the perspective-flipping found in Fez, Blackhole allows you to rotate the world’s gravity, allowing your hero access to previously hidden areas or routes. There’s a couple of new mechanics on display here; the ‘tackle system’ is a series of pulleys that you can interfere with to move blocks around, while ‘trampoline plants’… do I really need to explain those?
The development team behind Blackhole are currently working on an English version of the game which will feature actress Kira Buckland and independent composer and musician Blake Swift, both of whom featured in another indie game, last year’s Dust: An Elysian Tale. You can check out some more gameplay on FiolaSoft’s Youtube channel here.
Blackhole is set to release in the fourth quarter of 2014.
