Guild Wars 2 lead designer Eric Flannum has joined the team at Amazon Game Studios, who are still working on something apparently, having hoovered up several well-known designers over the last year or so.
That ‘something’ appears to be a melee-focused, competitive PC action game according to a Linkedin post from Flannum, who is taking on the role of creative director for the project.
”We’re on the lookout for top talent to build an ambitious, new PC game, utilizing the latest technology to explore third person, competitive, melee-oriented action gameplay in an entirely new light,” reads the post. ”Our Seattle team is comprised of creators who have worked on dozens of amazing projects like Guild Wars, Forza, Halo, Starcraft, Half Life 2, Left for Dead, Dota, Infamous, Sunset Overdrive, Destiny, and Shadow of Mordor.”
Flannum spent ten years at ArenaNet, and his appointment suggests that Amazon is still looking to hire new talent despite losing Far Cry 2 designer Clint Hocking to Ubisoft earlier this year.
