Slightly Mad Studios is trying something very similar to what CD Projekt is doing with its free DLC programme for The Witcher 3; rather than offering only a paid season pass for Project Cars, the developer has planned out a year of free content updates, including new cars, liveries, and other goodies.
“Project CARS was built for the future from day one,” writes the team, “and with PROJECT CARS ON DEMAND racing fans around the world will be able to enjoy a continually growing and evolving experience throughout 2015 with continual free updates that improve and expand upon the original core game, free cars and vehicle liveries delivered at no extra charge, and additional content made available without the usual obligation to purchase a long-term season pass.”
Project Cars On Demand builds on what Slightly Mad started last month with the release of the Lykan Hypersport and ten community-created liveries to players. At that point it had promised one free car a month, but apparently they’ve gotten slightly more ambitious/generous since then.
Now available is the Racing Icons Car Pack, which adds two new Bentley cars and one each from Mercedes-Benz and McLaren. You can see the new toys in action in the trailer above.
Slightly Mad hasn’t set a concrete release schedule for new content, but expect more free stuff very soon.
