Just like The Doctor or Half-life 3 rumours before E3 starts, Worms is a series that will never truly die. Worms World Party Remastered, an updated version of the classic 2001 entry in the eternally-running franchise, is on its way to the PC next month. Developer Team17 promises 1080p visuals, enhanced sound effects, full controller support, and Steam support for achievements and leaderboards. There's a bit of history here; World Party was the final game in the series to use full 2D graphics, something that's secured its popularity with long-time fans. Since then Team17 has struggled to integrate 3D into the series, with the result that it's lost a lot of its charm over the years. It always seemed to me like Worms was never meant (or indeed needed) to be anything more than a fun, one-trick pony. Worms World Party Remastered will be available on Steam this July 8 for £11/$15.
