News regarding Tindalos Interactive’s sci-fi RTS Etherium has been kind of thin on the ground since it was revealed early last year, but the developer has now announced a release date of March 25.
Etherium takes place in a colourful sci-fi universe in which three empires are locked in a ruthless struggle to control the Etherium, a mysterious and valuable resource found only on a handful of planets.
Above you can check out a trailer from Tindalos that covers Conquest mode, the game’s non-linear main campaign that combines a stripped down 4X-style strategic overview with traditional RTS elements. When you’re not blowing things up planet-level, you can research new tech, send spies off to disrupt rivals, and choose where to direct your next offensive.
Etherium contains some neat ideas, like deadly planet battlefields with dynamic weather events that can destroy your forces, as well as native troops that can either be crushed or recruited to your side. I saw it at a preview event last year, and it looked rather solid. We’ve been blessed with a few decent old-school RTS’s in the past month or so, and in two weeks we might have another one to occupy us.
You can pre-order the game over on Steam, for a 10% discount.
