Seemingly good news for those campaigning for the return of Shani, the red-haired medic from the original Witcher RPG. An updated artwork for the expansions seems to include Shani quite prominently.
CD Projekt RED has teased before that ”new and dearly missed” characters will be turning up in the expansions. The studio refuses to confirm whether it’s her saying they’ll ”leave that for the community to figure out.”
The medic is actually referenced in The Witcher 3 but not actually seen. Who is Shani? She’s a red-haired medic and a student of the Academy of Oxenfurt. She’s friend of bard Dandelion and Geralt himself. It is between Shani and the sorceress Triss Merigold that we choose a guardian for the boy Alvin late in in the original RPG.
”As far as the character portrayed on the illustration, we’ll leave that for the community to figure out,” said community manager Marcin Momot. Shani, if it’s her, will be part of the Hearts of Stone expansion. The Blood and Wine image is of a fancy looking castle on a hillside.
Hearts of Stone is expected to be around 20 hours more gameplay, and is due for release in 2016. Blood and Wine will be a smaller chunk at 10 hours but is releasing this October.
