If you happen to be signed up to Origin you will have received an email from Electronic Arts yesterday or today, informing you that Origin Accounts will soon be renamed as EA Accounts.
Aside from the name-change, things will remain pretty much the same. You can continue to use the same log-ins and access your existing library, it’s just a little bit of a branding rethink on EA’s part.
”In the coming weeks your Origin Account will be renamed to an EA Account to better represent all of EA’s games and services. Your account identity, preferences, and order history will remain unchanged. You will continue to use this account and the same login credentials to access all EA games, web sites, and services, including Origin,” the company explains in the email.
Origin launched back in 2011, and though it’s hardly the most beloved digital distribution service, EA’s approach in the last few months has actually been fairly consumer-friendly, with various free games and demos handed out fairly regularly.
No word on exactly when the account change-over will happen, but as you can continue to use the same credentials it shouldn’t make much difference to your gaming.
