We’re starting to build up a pretty clear picture of the recently revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and there’s definitely some interesting ideas being thrown around in there.
Here’s a relatively small change, but one that a lot of gamers will appreciate - Black Ops 3 will allow players to choose the gender of their characters, both in multiplayer and, for the first time, in the game’s core campaign.
The option is part of an in-depth suite of customisation options for your singleplayer character, but it’s not just a cosmetic head-swap. Talking to Engadget, Treyarch’s studio head Mark Lamia said that the option is “not just a female head on a male body. It’s a different set of animations for the entire game.”
CoD leads have basically always been blank ciphers, so there’s literally no reason not to give women an opportunity to be the badass hero too. Female characters will come with their own voice actor, and interactions will apparently changed based on the protagonist’s gender. I’m guessing not much, but still. It’s cool that the option is there at last.
