Publisher Kalypso Media and developer Kite Games have jointly announced Sudden Strike 5 will arrive next month, and we also have our first look at its Deluxe Edition.
The chosen drop date for the real-time tactics game is April 23, with a simultaneous PC and console (PS5 & Xbox Series X/S) release locked and loaded. Pre-orders are now live through the Kalypso Store, Xbox on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation Store. Funnily enough, the Steam page hasn’t been updated yet.
Xbox consoles and PS5 are also getting a bit of a special treatment with a 10% discount if you choose to pre-order the Standard Edition (€49.99 / $49.99 / £44.99) or Deluxe Edition (€59.99 / $59.99 /£54.99). It must be noted the PS5 discount only applies to PS Plus members.
Via the Kalypso Store, PC players are getting a special Deluxe Edition deal too. What does that version of the game include though?
According to the press release, this is everything Sudden Strike diehards will get:
- 2 exclusive version of PvP maps: Mercato Square (Night) and Belarus Fields (Winter)
- 6 exclusive skin packs with over 80 unique “camouflage skins” for vehicles
- Original soundtrack
- 72-hour early access to the full game
“Sudden Strike 5 transports players to the frontlines of WWII as battles rage across Europe and North Africa. Massive arsenals of over 300 authentic historical German, Soviet, and Allied military vehicles and units are at your command, including the iconic Sherman Tank, Messerschmidt Bf 109, and the T-34. Outsmart and outmanoeuvre the enemy in immersive real-time tactical gameplay that offers creative challenges for even the most hardened veterans. Tackle the objectives in non-linear sandbox gameplay across a 25-mission campaign by combining recon, sabotage, alternative routing, and complementary unit tactics to achieve victory on your own terms.”
During our hands-off preview of Sudden Strike 5 last summer, we thought “Kite Games is clearly making an effort to rethink the scale and depth of the Sudden Strike series.”
