Here, Rainbow Six: Siege is still looking a bit tasty, isn’t it? Ubisoft has revealed a brace of trailers for its tactical shooter, both of which showcase a new Operator System.
Team Rainbow is of course made up from various elite operatives from across the world; in Siege you’ll be able to choose from a various special forces teams, including the SAS, SWAT, and GIGN.
Each team will bring their own loadouts to the battle, and choosing the right mix and match of operatives is key. Urban areas with lots of entry points might require a breaching expert, for example, while open, long-distance maps will inevitably encourage dirty, camping snipers.
There are twenty operatives in the game, representing five different elite forces; GSG9, Spetznaz, SAS, SWAT and GIGN. Only one player can play as a particular operative at any one time. Again, this goes back to the very roots of the franchise, which gave you a squad of named troopers with certain skills that you whittled down over time by making horrible decisions in the field. At least, I did.
Anyone who pre-orders Siege will gain access to a Closed Beta later this year, and if you’re a fan of needless trinkets, game guides and gold weapon skins (bleuuurgh), you can order the Art of Siege special edition for £59.99.
Rainbow Six: Siege is due out this year. You can check out a livestream of the game played by the developers over on Ubisoft’s Twitch channel.
