The upcoming RPG Tyranny by Obsidian Entertainment and Paradox Interactive is right around the corner, due for release on Thursday November 10th. We’ve put together all the development diaries which explain the mechanics and systems that also show off some gameplay for players interested in picking the title up.
The game looks to be in a similar style to that of Obsidians successful RPG Pillars of Eternity. The recent resurgence of top down RPG’s and success of games like Divinity Orignal Sin, Pillars Of Eternity and Wasteland 2, leave Tyranny with an audience looking for more.
Tyranny is set in a world where the grand war between good and evil is over and the forces of evil, led by Kyros the Overlord, have won. Players take the role of a Fatebinder, the judge and executioner of Kyros’ law. Under his Tyrannical rule, you must decide how you will use your power. The developers produced a three-part series explaining the mechanics and world of the game.
The first video talks about the world the game takes place in and how your actions can lead to different narrative results and events taking place:
The second dev diary takes a focus on environments and character design, giving players more insight into the world and characters they can create and meet on their journey:
The newly released third and final video takes a good look at the gameplay systems in place in the game and shows off what players can expect in the full release:
Tyranny is shaping up to be an interesting game with a unique story and striking art style. Obsidian’s recent success with Pillars Of Eternity should ensure a great number of players watching this game with keen eyes to see if the quality and depth of Pillars remains in this new IP.
