One of the largest European gaming sites, Poland-based GRY Online, has listed an April 26th release date for the upcoming Blood and Wine expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Not much is known about the expansion, save some screenshots that were released. Some sources have released either general or unconfirmed info about it, such as the report that Blood and Wine will be twice as large as the previous expansion, Hearts of Stone.
What is known is that Blood and Wine will be the final chapter of protagonist Geralt’s story. The Witcher 3 writer Jakub Szamalek stated back in January, ”Blood and Wine will try to close, at least for a while, the universe of The Witcher. It will be the last adventure of Geralt as a main character, but beyond that there is still nothing written in stone. Blood and Wine will be our conclusion of the story of Geralt, then it’s time to focus all our energy on Cyberpunk 2077.” He went on to note that the expansion’s story will be not be closely related to the main storyline, and promised ”unique and memorable opponents” for Geralt this time around.
The WItcher 3: Hearts of Stone expansion earned an 8.5/10 score in its review. Chris Capel stated that while the story was entertaining, he pondered ”what’s the “proper” expansion Blood and Wine going to be like?!” Perhaps that question will indeed be answered on April 26th.
